BWLNC is thankful to Reed Smith LLP for its continued support of BWLNC. In addition to sponsoring and hosting multiple BWLNC events each year, Reed Smith has been the sole sponsor of the Hon. Patricia McKinney Memorial Luncheon. Significantly, Reed Smith’s Bay Area Black women attorneys have taken an active role in BWLNC through lifetime memberships, board service, and participation in BWLNC’s programs. BWLNC thanks Reed Smith for its continued support and partnership.

Reed Smith LLP is a global relationships law firm. With offices spanning the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, we are an entity as diverse as the continents across which we practice and the clients that we serve. We recognize, however, that diverse structure alone does not define true diversity. Instead, at Reed Smith we strive to realize the true value of our constituents – attorneys, staff and clients – by fully integrating their unique talents and perspectives into every aspect of our business.
To sustain and grow the strength of our team, Reed Smith is committed to supporting a variety of pipeline diversity initiatives to diverse students entering the legal profession even before they start law school and continues through graduation and beyond. We support diverse law students by providing the tools and opportunities to succeed in law school and in the legal profession through our participation in diversity initiatives such as those highlighted below.
Diverse Scholars Program
Our Diverse Scholars Program provides two $20,000 awards to be used to defray necessary expenditures related to the recipient’s legal education, as well as a paid summer associate position after completion of the second year of law school.
1L LCLD Scholars Program
We are proud to be a member of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD). As a member of the LCLD, the Pittsburgh and Chicago offices of Reed Smith are pleased to participate in the LCLD Scholars Program which will provide a first-year law student with the opportunity to join our 2015 Summer Associate Program.
Reed Smith/Kaiser Permanente 1L Diversity Fellowship
The Reed Smith/Kaiser Permanente Diversity Fellowship Program provides an award in the amount of $5,000 and a summer associate position in our San Francisco office to a diverse, first-year law student who has demonstrated strong academic scholarship, dedication to community service and/or leadership, and an understanding of the importance of diversity and inclusion in the legal profession.
